* Outdoor FunOutdoor Fun

Pick up pine cones to decorate with as well as provide a science lesson. The cones will be tightly closed to protect the seeds from the cold. As they warm up in your house they open and the seeds can more closely be seen. Spray with a can of snow and use as winter decorations. Can also paint with a little glue and roll in sparkles if you are really adventuresome:)

Plan a time this month for your family along with some other families to sing Christmas carols in a nursing home.

Children can make their own wrapping paper. Begin with either a roll or white or a mailing roll of paper. Select stamps or sponges and have children dip sponge or stamp into paint and then on the paper. The wrapping and the gift become special this season.

Make Cocoa to give away: 1 pkg (25 ounces) nonfat dry milk powder 1 1/2 cups non-dairy coffee creamer, about 6 ounces 3 cups (16 ounces) instant chocolate drink mix 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar 1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows Preparation: Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container. Give with directions below. Makes 16 cups. Enough cocoa mix for 4 1-quart jars to give, or split into small portions packed in decorative bags in mugs. Select some of the Christmas cards to make into lacing cards. Separate front of card from rest of card. Punch holes around the edges using a hole punch. Use a shoe string as the lace and tie a knot in one end before lacing. Ask children to go up and down or over and under. Have fun while increasing fine motor control.
